Professor Steven van Hecke, a professor at
KU Leuven and visiting professor at the University of Sarajevo, visited Sarajevo on May 13 and 14, where he delivered lectures scheduled for this semester at the Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Sarajevo.
As part of the courses Political System of the European Union and Foreign Policy of the European Union, taught by Prof. Dr. Nedžma Džananović, Professor van Hecke discussed current political developments in the European Union, trends in democratic development, as well as issues related to EU foreign and security policy. Special attention was given to the EU enlargement perspective and Brussels’ views on the future of the Western Balkans’ integration process.
During his stay in Sarajevo, Professor van Hecke also visited the
Faculty of Islamic Studies, University of Sarajevo, where he was hosted by Professor Ahmet Alibašić. Meetings with students and academic staff took place in an open and dynamic atmosphere, focusing on contemporary political challenges in Europe and globally.
Students showed great interest in topics related to European politics, democracy, and international relations, highlighting the importance of such guest lectures for the internationalization of teaching and the exchange of academic experiences.
Professor van Hecke will continue his cooperation with the Faculty of Political Sciences in the next academic year through new guest lectures and academic activities.
